Invest in a Teacher
Invest In A Teacher offers you the chance to support great teachers delivering great projects that will transform the lives of children in every corner of the world.
Now, for the first time, the Varkey Foundation, which founded the Global Teacher Prize, is offering a unique opportunity to partner with the world’s most inspiring teachers as they strive to deliver their passion projects. Partnering with these teachers to do their work is a down payment on a better tomorrow.
The Invest In A Teacher opportunity is unique, in that only those teachers who have been selected as winners and finalists of the Global Teacher Prize are eligible to have their projects supported via this exclusive pipeline. It is a platform that offers individuals, NGOs, academic institutions, and businesses the opportunity to partner with these extraordinary educators and make a real difference on the ground – transforming the education and lives of children in villages, towns, and cities across the planet.
There are now 400 Global Teacher Prize ambassadors from more than 80 countries. These heroes have already filled the world’s media with thousands of stories of how they transformed young people’s lives. They have inspired millions – sparking conversations about the importance of teachers from the breakfast table to the office to the place of worship. We never dreamt that this was possible when we started our journey.

Now these teachers want to scale up their ideas and change the lives of hundreds and thousands of children outside their classroom. These teachers are brimming with ideas and start-up projects that need rapidly scaling up. Their projects cut across many sectors from mental health and food insecurity to the arts and environmental sustainability. You now have a chance to provide direct support to these teachers who, through their creativity, inspiration and hard-work, are laying the foundations on which the future will be built.
The passionate and empathetic voice of the teacher will always be at the heart of our mission. It is only by listening to their hard-won knowledge and experience that we can equip the next generation to face perhaps the most daunting challenges in history – from conflict to climate change, from growing inequality to harnessing the potential of technology for good.
It is teachers who are on the frontline of education. It is teachers that understand the lives young people lead and the obstacles they overcome. It is teachers that understand their gifts and the possibilities that lie within their grasp. It is teachers that bridge the generations – and provide us with a guide to the future.
We invest a sacred trust in teachers – the responsibility for educating our children. It is time we invested the same trust in their insights and their initiatives. It is time to live up to our promise that we back our teachers.
