Methodology

It is extremely important for us at the Varkey Foundation to ensure that the evaluation process of the Global Teacher Prize is fair and transparent.

How is the Prize judged?

The Global Teacher Prize process involves a number of rounds of filtering, screening and committees. The Global Teacher Prize Judging Academy includes public officials, head teachers, academics, journalists, entrepreneurs, company directors, scientists and entertainment industry figures from around the world. They share the common goal of shining a spotlight on the great work that teachers do and use a comprehensive list of judging criteria.

To help us ensure fairness and transparency, the process involves checking performed by PwC as the Global Process Integrity Partner of the Global Teacher Prize. PwC looks at the Varkey Foundation's processes for entry evaluation, manages the prize committee selection of the top ten finalists, and provides the Voting Jury platform.
