Frequently asked questions about the Global Teacher Prize
Announcements regarding the upcoming cycle of the Global Teacher Prize in early 2024.
The Prize is open to currently working teachers who teach children that are in compulsory schooling, or are between the ages of five and eighteen. Teachers who teach children age 4+ in an Early Years government-recognised curriculum are also eligible, as are teachers who teach on a part-time basis, and teachers of online courses. Teachers must spend at least 10 hours per week teaching children face-to-face, and plan to remain in the teaching profession for the next 5 years. The Prize is open to teachers in every kind of school and, subject to local laws, in every country in the world.
For more information on who can apply for the prize please visit our judging criteria and Terms and Conditions pages.
There is a “save and continue later” function for applicants who have not finished to pause and come back to the application later. When you choose this option, you will be emailed a unique link to your application to come back to it and finish. Once applications are submitted, however, they cannot be edited.
If you have shortlisted into the Top 50 finalists, you will receive an email from us notifying you. However, if you do not receive an email, it unfortunately means you have not made through to the Top 50 finalists.
Currently the languages we accept applications in are English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese.
Unfortunately, all applications and nominations must be done online through our website. Anything sent to us via post or email will not be accepted as a valid application or be taken into consideration alongside an online application.
We do not have a specific level of experience required for applicants. However, please look at our criteria page for more information.
The prize money will be paid in equal annual installments over a period of ten years. For anymore information, please check our Terms and Conditions.
