Anamur Cyprus Primary School Kindergarten A branch and 2\A class teachers and students in the Anamur district of Mersin, the southernmost point of Turkey, designed cages for the endangered caretta caretta nests on our coasts, within the scope of the project carried out by the Anamur Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate. While placing the cages they designed in their nests, they reminded the local people once again that the loggerheads are about to become extinct according to the WORLD CONSERVATION UNION (IUCN) criteria. Nature Conservation and National parks officers made informative presentations to the local people, our participating students and teachers, and our parents. The awareness-raising events and preparations held this year They said that they estimate that more hatchlings will reach the sea in a healthy way compared to previous years, thanks to the nest protection cages. Let's not forget that when a baby loggerhead leaves the nest and becomes an adult, it returns to the beaches where it was hatched to lay its own eggs. The importance of sustainability was emphasized.
