In many classrooms, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is often viewed by learners as one of the more intimidating subjects. Abstract concepts like input/output devices, programming logic, or flowcharts can feel distant and difficult. But for Osborn Martin Gatugbe, an educator and passionate changemaker, this challenge became an opportunity to ignite young minds.

In a recent lesson themed “Exploring Tech with Creativity,” Osborn guided his students through an interactive, hands-on experience focused on technology tools and basic flowchart design. The students didn't just learn — they explored, created, and connected.

The class began with a foundational understanding of computer parts, particularly the keyboard and monitor — but quickly evolved into a collaborative exercise. Using paper, pens, and plenty of imagination, learners created 2D flowcharts to map out simple technological processes.

“We wanted to show students that ICT isn't just about machines — it's about thinking, solving, and expressing ideas,” Osborn shared. “When learners see how these concepts connect to their world, the fear melts away and is replaced by curiosity.”

This creative approach didn't just teach the students new content; it built confidence. Students who once hesitated to raise their hands were now eagerly sharing their flowcharts and helping peers grasp concepts. Through innovation and active participation, Osborn transformed the perception of ICT from a difficult subject to a platform for discovery.

More than just a class, the session was a reminder that education thrives where creativity leads. It showcased how a teacher's passion and resourcefulness can turn traditional lessons into transformative experiences.

Why It Matters:

As the world increasingly depends on digital literacy, ensuring students are not just competent but also excited about ICT is critical. Educators like Osborn are leading the way by bridging the gap between content and connection, showing us all that with the right tools and mindset, learning can be joyful, engaging, and deeply meaningful.

Let's keep celebrating educators who make learning come alive — one creative lesson at a time.
