Olivier Brechard

Olivier has served since 2019 as Director of International Relations at the Learning Planet Institute (LPI), recently recognised as a UNESCO Category 2 Centre and a UNU Hub for the Future of Learning with Youth. LPI collaborates with hundreds of leading organisations worldwide to transform education and collectively address complex challenges such as the SDGs.

Olivier oversees a range of innovative programmes, including the Youth Design Challenge, Learning Ecosystems in the Global South, Peaceful Futures, and Teachers for the Planet. He also leads the annual LearningPlanet Festival, which celebrates learning on the occasion of the International Day of Education and, in 2026, brought together more than 800 events, 500 partner organisations, and over 100,000 participants.

Previously, from 2008 to 2019, Olivier developed strong expertise in the design and management of global initiatives focused on the future of learning, notably through his contribution to the development of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE, 2008–2012). He also contributed to a range of leading initiatives, including Global Education Futures, the Global Education Leaders Partnership (GELP), EdTech France as Vice-President, the European Open EdTech Challenge, Learning Without Frontiers, and Catalyst NOW as Co-Chair of Education. From 2015 to 2019, he was also CEO of the WebForce3 network of digital schools, which he co-founded.

Olivier is also a member of the advisory boards of Ecolhuma, Génération Mada, and No Limits to Hope (Club of Rome), and is a Salzburg Global Fellow.
