Professor Marzouki received his PhD in cognitive psychology in 2007 from the University of Provence in France. His experimental approach to study the role of spatial attention in the identification of written words and letters allowed him to obtain the prestigious European grant from the Fyssen Foundation in order to pursue his research at Tufts University in Boston.

He returned in 2009 to Aix-Marseille Université as an Associate Professor of cognitive psychology and statistical modelling applied to behavioural sciences. He is also a researcher in the CNRS affiliated Cognitive Psychology unit and a member of the Behaviour, Cognition & Brain Institute of the French National Committee for Scientific Research.

Yousri Marzouki is currently conducting research on the relationship between attention, emotion and Consciousness. He developed in 2012, in collaboration with Olivier Oullier the Professor of Behavioural and Brain Sciences in Aix-Marseille University, a model called Virtual Collective Consciousness. The latter is considered a promising integrative framework to explain massive-scale online behaviours.
