Pamela Harington

Executive Director of Bring Change to Mind (BC2M)

Her work over the last 10 years with BC2M has been to guide, shepherd and scale this organization in its mission to end the stigma and discrimination that surround mental illness. BC2M celebrated its 10th anniversary in mental health advocacy and education in 2020.  Glenn Close co-founded the organization after generations of her family had suffered from mental illness without proper diagnosis and they found that the stigma around their illness was more toxic than the diseases they lived with. 

Pamela brought BC2M and international partners to establish the Global Alliance Against Stigma in 2012.  These international partners in stigma reduction collaborate and share best practices, resources, experts and research.  In 2013 Pamela represented BC2M at The White House Conference on Mental Health. Alongside BC2M researchers she assisted in compiling the stigma and discrimination points circulated by President Obama and Vice President Biden. 

Prior to arriving at Bring Change to Mind, Pamela had worked to help establish The Jed Foundation in 2001.  The Jed Foundation, headquartered in NYC, provides a mental health support for college students and works to prevent suicide on college campuses.  She made the move to mental health after 10 years in breast cancer advocacy where she helped to build The Breast Cancer Research Foundation with Evelyn Lauder of The Estee Lauder Companies and later The Avon Foundation.  She believes that the work that she saw in the late 90’s around the pink ribbon is where we are today with mental health.   

She began her career as an eager and hopeful policy analyst in Washington DC.  She was a political appointee in the Administration of George H.W. Bush at the Treasury Department, the Department of Health and Human Services and The White House Conference on Aging.   After the change of administration in the White House, she worked on 10 US Senate Races across the country through the Senatorial Committee (NRSC). 

Originally from Boston she has resided in NYC, Washington DC and for the last 16 years in San Francisco.
