Chief Executive Officer, American College Health Association (ACHA)
Michael Huey, MD, FACHA is the recent interim Chief Executive Officer of the America College Health Association (ACHA). He is the former Assistant Vice President and Executive Director of Emory University Student Health and Counselling Services Associate Professor of Family and Preservative Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Huey is an ACHA Past President and Fellow and the recipient of the 2019 ACHA Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also a member of the American College Health Association (ACHA) COVID-19 Task Force. In 2015-16 he was an Ebola Clinical Consultant with CDC National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) and he deployed with CDC Sierra Leone Ebola response as an infection prevention specialist in Summer 2015. Dr. Huey has been a surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) since 2005 and has performed surveys at over 50 college health services and primary care organizations.
Dr. Huey is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine and his residency in Family Medicine at the Ventura County Medical Center. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and has held a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine (CAQSM). He has been a team physician at University of Florida (Division I) California State University , Bakersfield (Division II) and Emory University (Division III), where he was head team physician for over 16 years.
