Ellen Dixon is a Steering Committee Member at the Global Student Forum, the world’s umbrella organisation for student federations.
Ellen represents New Zealand, Australia and Canada at the Global Student Forum. She is also the global SDG Student Programme Project Lead at the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth, and was the Interim Sherpa Group Youth Representative for the Education 2030 High Level Steering Committee for the UNESCO SDG 4 Youth Network Interim Council. Ellen has also partnered with various UN-agencies, including the Global Education Monitoring Report and UNICEF.
Ellen is the New Zealand Vice Chancellors’ Committee student-elect to the highest body for academic quality for the university sector in Aotearoa New Zealand. She has been supported as a civil society representative on SDG 4 by the New Zealand Ministry of Education, and the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO. She has been involved in leading national and global campaigns against precarious academic work, human rights violations, and modern slavery.
Ellen is a critical theorist and meta-theoretician in the study of “biopolitical sovereignty” and political violence. She is a Massey Scholar and a Doctoral Scholar.
