*Wow! Verification of multiplication, and that too in seconds! And many times easier than verification of division.*

 

It is natural to have doubts after reading the title of this article, wondering how this is possible. Because, until now, in the history of mathematics, we have never heard of the concept of verifying multiplication, although we have all been verifying division and guiding students on how to do so. However, the fact that multiplication can be verified is certainly new to you, and the idea of ​​verifying multiplication in seconds naturally raises doubts; but friends, it is possible, and we can truly verify the multiplication of even very large numbers in seconds. And because students now understand whether the multiplication example they solved is right or wrong, they have started checking the multiplication themselves. Since they understand whether the answer is correct or not, their confidence has increased. I have a fourth-grade class with 38 students. And the special thing is that 100 percent of the students solve division problems. Now I have taught the students how to verify multiplication, and they verify the multiplication of even very large numbers in just ten to twelve seconds. Let's understand this method of verifying multiplication.

 

To check whether the answer to a large multiplication problem is correct or not, that is, to verify it, we only need to find the single-digit 'special number' of each number. *Multiplication Verification: A Very Simple Method*

Example: 5496 × 58 = 318768 (Is this answer correct?)

*Step 1.* Find the special number of the first number:

5496 --------- 5+4+9+6 = 24 ------- 2+4 = 6

*Step 2.* Find the special number of the second number:

58 -------- 5+8 = 13------ 1+3 = 4

*Step 3.* Multiply both special numbers:

6 × 4 = 24

Now add the digits of 24 again: 2+4 = 6 <--- (This is our 'result')

*Step 4.* Now add the digits of the answer:

The answer is 318768

Sum: 3+1+8+7+6+8 = 33

Sum again: 3+3 = 6

✅ What is the result?

* The number obtained in Step 3: 6

* The number obtained in Step 4: 6

When both these numbers are the same, it means that our multiplication is absolutely correct!
