The "Gamified Flipped Classroom with Local Impact Projects" project at Ribeiro Couto School won 1st place in its category at the 2025 Transforming Educator Award.
A primary school in Alto Paraíso, Rondônia, has received statewide recognition for transforming students into protagonists in problem-solving. The project "Gamified Flipped Classroom with Local Impact Projects," developed at the Ribeiro Couto School, won 1st place in the Rondônia stage of the 2025 Transforming Educator Award, in the category of Pedagogical Innovation and Active Methodologies.
The proposal combines flipped classroom strategies, gamification, and project-based learning, with student protagonism at the center. Instead of passively receiving content, students participate in missions and challenges that connect what they learn in the classroom to the reality of the school and the community.
Through collaborative activities and locally impactful projects, students learn to identify problems in their daily lives and to jointly develop proposals for intervention and transformation. The goal is more active, participatory, and contextualized learning.
The award recognized the project for its use of innovative teaching practices and its emphasis on placing the student at the center of the learning process.
