The Healing Power of Music | Turkey

Göksen Tosuner was born in 1986 in Kayseri, Turkey. One of the most important factors that led me to success is being dyslexic. During my childhood, despite struggling with dyslexia and facing learning difficulties in primary school, my talents were recognized by my mother who encouraged me to focus on music education. Continuing my music education, I became a trainee teacher at the institution where I studied at the age of 16. I further developed myself by teaching at public education centers and private courses.

In 2006, I founded my own private music school, Katre Music School. In 2011, I established the West London Music School as the authorized Turkey examination center, enabling thousands of students to earn internationally recognized music diplomas and certificates.

In 2018, drawing from my experiences, I wrote two piano methods incorporating innovative music education approaches. These books, widely sold across Turkey, received great acclaim and reached their fourth edition. In 2024, I won the first prize in the "International Competition of Teaching, Methodological and Creative Works" category. The same year, I was also honored with the first prize in the "Global Genius Music Competition" worldwide, featuring my books.

In 2023, during my master's studies, I wrote a thesis titled "The Effects of Piano Education Prepared with a Positive Psychology Approach on Dyslexic Individuals." This successful thesis led to a presentation at a symposium. Throughout my teaching career, I have specialized in working with students facing learning difficulties. During this process and ongoing, I have been developing innovative educational approaches using piano education as a tool to help dyslexic children cope with the academic and social challenges they encounter.

Since 2011, I have been managing the examination center of West London Music College. Until 2024, many of our students have received diplomas from this program. Additionally, I serve as a consultant for this program in various cities across Turkey.

In 2024, I completed the international piano teaching program at the University of West London, earning the title of Turkey's first international piano teacher.

I have participated in various international music festivals, where many of my students have won awards. Among the competitions we have attended are several prestigious events.

At Katre Music School, which I founded, other teachers apply the same educational model, and together with their students, they participate in competitions and festivals, achieving success.
