Diafani Karpathos, Karpathos Island | Greece

In Diafani Karpathos there is a unique school with a teacher and only two students. The place belongs to a completly remote area in Karpathos island. The students are the last kids of the village. Althought both Difani and Olympous villages are well known of keeping their traditions alive, the life in there is very difficult cause there is no Pharmacy, no doctors, no bakery's, no butcher's, no supermarkets, no post office and no external activities for kids. All grandmothers use to wear traditional costumes, bake their very own breads in their stone ovens and use to move by... donkeys! When it is rainning the whole village get flooded and when there are strong winds the sea gets angry and hits the village.

Teacher and students used to count the seconds, after a wave hits the ground and then run altogether in order to succeed in arriving school safe and sound but wet...

These two kids are the heros of the island since they try to keep the heart of Greece alive even in the most remote places..
