Siti Ainulmursyida Shamsudin, special educational needs (SEN) teacher at SMK Orkid Desa, Kuala Lumpur, is transforming learning for SEN students across Malaysia. Guided by the belief that her students deserve the same opportunities as their mainstream peers, she established the school’s Digital Resource Centre, a space where teachers and students explore and integrate assistive technology (AT) into daily learning.
Building on this, Siti developed creative digital tools such as ‘Speakmon’ and ‘Time Travelling Verbs’, and created the PEKAOKU platform, benefiting over 300 SEN students nationwide. Her innovative approach has enabled her students to represent Malaysia at the Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities, winning gold medals.
Siti was recognised as the 2025 Malaysian Teacher Prize (MTP) winner, a prize organized by PEMIMPIN in partnership with the Varkey Foundation. The Varkey Foundation supports National Teacher Prizes worldwide, offering guidance on applications, nominations, and judging criteria, while promoting excellence in teaching globally. Siti’s work exemplifies how technology and human-centred design can redefine equity and inclusion in education.
