Rouble, founder of the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, has spent more than two decades bringing education directly into underserved communities through creative approaches such as interactive murals and community learning centres. Her work has already helped establish more than 800 learning centres across India, reaching children who may otherwise never enter formal schooling.
Strengthening education initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir
During meetings with senior leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Rouble discussed plans to expand community-based education programmes in remote and border regions. The discussions focused on improving access to learning opportunities and supporting children who face barriers to formal schooling. She also shared plans to establish digital learning centres, computer labs and skill development programmes, particularly in underserved villages. The initiatives aim to bridge the digital divide and introduce AI-supported learning tools that can help students better engage with subjects such as mathematics, languages and creative arts.
Expanding opportunities for young people and women
Across the meetings, Rouble emphasised the importance of combining education with skills training and economic empowerment, particularly for women and young people. Her foundation’s model integrates community learning with practical skills, helping families build sustainable livelihoods alongside education. These initiatives build on her long-standing mission to transform neighbourhoods into learning environments, turning public walls into “open-air classrooms” that teach literacy, science, hygiene and social awareness.
Scaling impact after the Global Teacher Prize
Following the global recognition she has garnered as winner of the 2026 Global Teacher Prize, Rouble has pledged to expand her programmes further—opening new learning centres, launching digital education initiatives and strengthening partnerships with governments and communities.
Through these collaborations, she hopes to extend her model of community-led, creative education to reach even more children and ensure that learning opportunities are accessible to all.
