Bogotá welcomed Global Teacher Prize 2025 winner Mansour Al Mansour last week as he embarked on a five-day visit filled with cultural experiences and educational exchange. The highlight of his trip was his participation in the XII Summit of Leaders for Education, hosted by SEMANA, where he joined ministers, policymakers and fellow educators to discuss the most urgent challenges facing schools in Colombia and beyond.

During his keynote interview, “Lessons from the World’s Best Teacher,” Mansour thanked the Colombian government for its commitment to education and emphasised that true investment lies in teachers themselves, not just infrastructure. Drawing on 30 years of experience in Saudi Arabia, he highlighted his work in innovation, AI, and personalised methodologies that connect content with real-life learning. He shared stories of working with orphans, incarcerated youth, and disadvantaged students, many of whom launched successful projects and businesses under his guidance. For Mansour, every challenge is an opportunity: from transforming curiosity into creativity to teaching financial skills that change families’ lives. “The prize was a ten-year dream,” he reflected, “but what matters most is that my students have become the best students in the world.” His visit to Colombia left a powerful message of hope, collaboration, and the belief that teachers can shape not only classrooms but entire communities.
