Global Teacher Prize |
In rural Pakistan, where literacy ranks 172nd globally, Sister Zeph, Founder & CEO of the Zephaniah Women’s Education and Empowerment Foundation (ZWEE) and winner of the 2023 Global Teacher Prize has been a beacon of hope—offering 10 years of completely free education to the region’s most underprivileged children. Her mission stands as a powerful shield against child labour and child marriage, protecting girls as young as 13 from these heartbreaking realities.
Last month ZWEE Foundation School celebrated its Annual Graduation Day, where 350 children were promoted to the next academic levels. High achievers were recognized and awarded certificates and trophies by a distinguished chief guest, the Station Commander of Garrison Gujranwala, Pakistan Army. In addition, 206 young women graduated from our vocational center after successfully completing their training programs.
Sister Zeph’s school is the only one in the area facing the “challenge” of too many admissions. With more space, they could educate thousands more. Congratulations Sister Zeph!
