The University of Queensland student and Chegg.org Global Student Prize 2024 Finalist, Hemanshi Galaiya, has been presented with the U21 Leaders of the Future Award – Current Student Category, affirming her influence and leadership as a changemaker in education and science.

A PhD researcher, social entrepreneur, and educator, Hemanshi is leveraging cutting-edge bioengineering research for environmental remediation projects in Australia while also championing equitable access to STEM education in Kenya through her organisation, Young Stripes. Her dual-impact approach has empowered more than 50,000 individuals across continents, with a focus on sustainability, innovation, and inclusive learning.

The U21 Leaders of the Future Awards, given by Universitas 21, celebrate students and alumni from member universities who are making significant contributions to internationalisation and global engagement. Hemanshi’s recognition in the current student category highlights her dedication to building globally relevant, community-driven solutions.
