The text reconstructs, from official documents and press notes, four decades of educational policy in the Argentine province of San Luis, governed almost uninterruptedly by the same political-family group between 1983 and 2023.
The analysis examines the adaptation to the Federal Education Law of the 1990s, the Self-Managed Schools and their successor, the Generative Schools, the shift towards digital inclusion that made the province a Latin American benchmark, and the political rupture of 2023 that ended the Rodríguez Saá family's hegemony. The official narrative of educational innovation is contrasted with the available critical evidence: the results of standardized assessments, independent academic production, and, above all, the voice of a teachers' union tradition with varying degrees of intensity. The result is an assessment without easy conclusions, attentive to both the documented achievements and the difficulties, challenges, loss of rights, and precarious working conditions for teachers.
