Through Leading Education, the Varkey Foundation is bringing together 36 young leaders from 13 countries across Latin America to strengthen the knowledge, skills and networks they need to improve education systems.
Over the past weeks, participants have engaged in conversations with distinguished leaders including Jaime Saavedra, former Minister of Education of Peru and former Global Director for Education at the World Bank; Camilo Morales, Senior Manager at the Jacobs Foundation; Nicolás Reyes, Programme Specialist at UNESCO; Carlos de Marcos, Professor at Universidad Austral; and many others. Together, they have explored what it takes to lead meaningful change through public policy, evidence-informed decision-making, philanthropy, systems leadership and ethical leadership.
These sessions go beyond theory. They offer participants the opportunity to learn directly from leaders who have designed public policies, led education reforms, built cross-sector partnerships and influenced the future of education at national, regional and global levels.
Over the past years, Leading Education has grown into a community of more than 620 alumni across 19 Latin American countries, many of whom now serve in ministries of education, local governments, international organisations, universities, civil society organisations and education ventures.
