The fourth annual meeting of the Araucaria Community, a Varkey Foundation initiative, took place in the United Kingdom for the first time, bringing together senior education leaders for training sessions, peer exchange, and strategic dialogue. The gathering welcomed 20 ministers and secretaries of education from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, united by a shared goal to accelerate meaningful transformation across education systems in the region.
Highlights from the agenda included leadership workshops led by experts from the University of Cambridge, alongside high-level meetings with key UK education and government stakeholders. Participants engaged in discussions with the UK’s National Minister for Skills, visited the BBC, and met with the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Multilateralism, Human Rights and Latin America, Chris Elmore. The programme also featured dialogue with former UK Secretary of State for Education, Charles Clarke.
This edition of the Araucaria Community was delivered in collaboration with a strong network of partners, including Fundación Coppel, CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, Fundación Azteca, ODILO, Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR), Canva, Dandelion, Fundación Lemann, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, and the Federal Investment Council (CFI). Together, they supported a shared vision for leadership, innovation, and long-term impact in education across Latin America.
