The global education community will come together in Santiago, Chile for the World Summit on Teachers, taking place on 28–29 August 2025, with a special “Day Zero” of socio-cultural events and school visits on 27 August. Co-organised by UNESCO and the Government of Chile, the Summit will be held in conjunction with the SDG 4 High-Level Steering Committee meeting.
This high-level gathering will focus on one of education’s most urgent challenges: the global teacher shortage. Ministers, teacher representatives, international organisations, and leading education stakeholders will engage in dialogue around policies, financing, innovation, and inclusion all with the goal of dignifying and investing in the teaching profession.
The Summit provides a critical platform for the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 to amplify its network’s voice and advance the recommendations of the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on the Teaching Profession and the Global Report on Teachers.
