Global report on teachers: Addressing teacher shortages

Why we need 44 Million More Teachers by 2030

The world is facing a global teacher shortage: new data from UNESCO shows that we need an additional 44 million teachers by 2030 to achieve education goals.

Sunny Varkey, Founder of the Global Teacher Prize, said

"Teaching is the mother of all professions.  If you don't have good teachers, you're not going to have a good society".

This document provides insight into the first Global Report on Teachers. Supported by fresh data and thorough research, the report aims to address a knowledge void and champion the cause of having an adequate number of empowered and well-trained teachers. The focus is on supporting them within education systems that are well-resourced and effectively governed, reports UNESCO.
