I am Ayesha Latif, a teacher from Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
For our Green Initiative, we started a very small activity with a big dream. For us, it is not just about cleaning the environment. We wanted to teach our children that caring for everything around us is as important as caring for ourselves.
I want to share that this initiative was not only for my kindergarten class. We took this initiative for all the children in our whole school, so that every child can get equal benefit and equal knowledge about it.
When there is more greenery, we have a fresh atmosphere, more oxygen, and more fruits and flowers. When we care for plants, it brings strength, love, and affection in a person. I truly believe that plants can feel our love.
In our school, each child from every class planted one small plant with their own hands and took it to their home. Now all our students are little gardeners who water their plants, clean the leaves, and send us photos every day.
Then we told the children something new. We told them that not all plants need soil. Some plants can also grow in water. For example, we can grow a Money Plant in water.
The children were so excited. They planted Money Plants in water bottles in their own homes and showed us their pictures.
After that, we also learned about the benefits of some special plants, like Niaz Bo (Basil) and Aloe Vera. We learned how useful these plants are for us in our daily lives.
The children were so happy. They found these plants in their homes and took pictures with them. They said, "Teacher, we also have this at our home and we use it."
They learned to use and care for the natural things in their environment. It is also a way to thank Allah for these beautiful gifts of nature.
From our one school, we have now made hundreds of green homes. I am so proud of our whole school team.
