We selected this project because our community faces three interconnected challenges: climate change, water pollution, and limited public awareness about waterborne diseases. Living in a rural agricultural region of South Punjab, Pakistan, we have witnessed how unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation, extreme weather events, and lack of awareness negatively affect the health, education, and wellbeing of families.

Rather than teaching these issues only through textbooks, we wanted students to become part of the solution. This project provides opportunities for students to develop leadership, critical thinking, communication, research, and active citizenship skills while addressing real community challenges.

A special focus was placed on empowering girls as community leaders and change-makers. Through surveys, awareness campaigns, home visits, and community engagement activities, students transformed learning into meaningful action.

PROJECT IMPACT OVERVIEW
At Central Model School Khanewal, Pakistan, we believe education should not stop at classroom walls. Through our student-led Climate Change, Water Pollution, and Waterborne Disease Awareness initiatives, students have transformed learning into meaningful community action.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Students actively lead surveys, awareness campaigns, speeches, community visits, and sustainability projects. Girls play a particularly important role as climate ambassadors and community educators, strengthening confidence, communication skills, and leadership capacity.

COMMUNITY SURVEYS & ENGAGEMENT
Students conducted more than 1,000 community surveys and directly engaged over 500 families. Through home visits and awareness activities, they shared information about clean water, hygiene, disease prevention, climate risks, and sustainable living practices.
