Mayteé Guadalupe Gonzalez Reyna, a passionate preschool teacher, has dedicated her career to redefining the foundational years of education. Her unwavering commitment to her students and her innovative approach to teaching have earned her a reputation as a transformative figure in early childhood education.

From an early age, Mayteé knew her calling was to teach. Inspired by her own educators and early classroom experiences, she pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Preschool Education at Escuela Normal del Estado, where she honed her teaching philosophy. For her, education is not merely a profession but a profound opportunity to shape young minds and inspire lifelong curiosity.

In her classroom, Mayteé employs a blend of constructivist, experiential, and cognitive teaching models. She tailors her methods to the interests and needs of her students, ensuring that learning is both engaging and meaningful. Her innovative project-based methodology has become a hallmark of her teaching. For example, her "Crazy Scientists" project allowed students to explore scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and confidence. Similarly, the "I Become Superheroes" project focused on emotional regulation and self-esteem, helping students navigate their feelings while developing empathy and resilience.

Mayteé also integrates global citizenship and environmental awareness into her curriculum. Through projects like "Traveling the World," she introduces her students to diverse cultures, traditions, and global challenges, instilling respect for differences and a sense of responsibility. Environmental education is seamlessly woven into her lessons, with activities ranging from reforestation initiatives to sustainable practices such as waste separation and water conservation.

Teaching in a middle-income area with a diverse student population, Mayteé faces significant challenges, including low attendance rates and economic instability among families. Despite these obstacles, she fosters strong connections with her students and their families, providing resources and personalized support to ensure every child has equal opportunities to learn. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom—she organizes parenting workshops, offers free after-school tutoring, and even provides materials for students in need.

Mayteé's impact extends way beyond her classroom. She collaborates with fellow educators, sharing best practices and mentoring in project design and implementation. Her work has inspired schools across cities, and she regularly speaks at teacher training events, emphasizing the importance of creativity and adaptability in education.

Her commitment to lifelong learning shows in her personal and professional growth. She actively seeks new teaching strategies and tools, ensuring her methods remain relevant and effective. She also instils this ethos in her students by fostering inquiry-based learning and encouraging exploration of the world around them.

The results of Mayteé’s efforts are tangible. Her students consistently show remarkable progress in academic, social, and emotional development. Graduates of her preschool demonstrate self-confidence, a love for learning, and strong academic performance in primary school. Her ability to inspire not only her students but also their families and the wider community underscores her profound impact.
