Aigul Ishangaliyeva

Aigul Ishangaliyeva fell in love with the English language when she started learning English in the 4th grade, immediately setting herself the goal of becoming an English teacher. She has now been teaching English at school for 30 years, not only because she loves working with children, but also to share knowledge with the teachers in her city and teach it to young professionals, sharing experience through seminars and master classes. 

During the pandemic she made lesson plans for every grade to help teachers in her area, which were uploaded to the Bilimalmaty. kz platform which every teacher could access nationwide. Content of video lessons written by Aigul for the 2020-2021 academic year were created by the Almaty branch of JSC "Orleu" BAO and posted on Orleu's YouTube channel. Her one-to-one coaching of students has helped even those with debilitating health and handicap issues rise to the top of the class. 

Via the "Dara" charity project, Aigul provides mentoring services to help orphaned children find their place in society. She also participates in the charity project "School without Borders 1+1" to improve educational opportunities of children with disabilities throughout the Republic, teaching them English and conducting preparatory classes for university entrance. She has also participated with her students in World Clean Up Day 2022 to clean up the city while promoting global citizenship. To help prepare students for life she gives examples of great people who realized that they can do everything, that they have the opportunity, increasing their self-confidence, and overcoming difficulties in a triple alliance between the teacher, parents, and the child.  

Using the project-based method in her classes, with benefits including the development of students' oral language, Aigul will take children to the laboratory to conduct work on identifying blood groups when studying genetics, and ensure children collaborate in global products such as "Doves of Peace", where children all over the world drew pictures of doves and wrote their wishes to each other, later meeting online to present details of their countries, traditions, cities, and history. In addition, she moderated the "Where do I live?" project where students around the world describe the geography of where they live, its nature, flora and fauna and their student life with their favourite subjects to study. 

As an Ambassador and President of the International English Language Teachers Association and a Chairwoman of the Republican non-governmental organization "Association of Foreign Languages Teachers" she works with government to develop better education practices, takes part in webinars, seminars, and conferences on different issues which help teachers, and with her team helps teachers with methodology, assessment, using different methods, integrating technology, and other teaching skills. She is also winner of awards including "Best teacher-2020" Republican competition and was awarded the "Best Teacher of the educational organization" medal and a reward of 2,771,000 tenges from the Ministry of Education.
