Ravinder Bishnoi

Ravinder was born and raised in the small, remote village of Rajasthan, where a lack of schools meant that only a bare minimum of education was possible in his early years. He was also born with a susceptibility to respiratory disease and infection, and has struggled with numerous health problems. After he joined the Air Force School in 7th grade, bullying from classmates and scolding from teachers convinced him that he had to change things. With no access to smartphones or the Internet, he visited a cyber cafe to learn about robotics, electronics, design and other engineering topics. Since then, he has gone on to achieve a huge amount in robotics. First, he developed an all-terrain surveillance robot for the Indian army to help locate terrorists without casualties, which gained national attention and earned him invitations to conduct summer training sessions for students on robotics, electronics and problem-solving.  

Ravinder was determined to continue making inventions that would help society, and over the past decade he has created a number of transport-oriented devices, including the Vehicle Horn Control Assembly (which helps to reduce noise pollution caused by unnecessary honking) and the Retraction of Side Stand (designed to prevent the common and serious problem of forgetting to retract the side stand of a two-wheeler). These inventions are both patented and have successfully undergone pilot tests. They will soon be available in the market through Ravinder’s startup, KieKie Private Limited, which was incorporated in 2022 as one of the few startups in the country with the Indian government as an investor.  

Ravinder continues to develop other devices to help those in need. Recently he has filed patents for an Ambulance Alert System – a device that can create green corridors for ambulances in traffic-dense countries like India, where a significant number of people lose their lives due to delayed ambulances. He has also developed the world's first heavy metal water filter that operates without electricity. At a community level, Ravinder shares his knowledge and experience through various offline and online events held at his college. Every day, an average of between three and five students visit his office seeking guidance. 

Ravinder’s work has been widely recognized with success in competitions and awards. He is the winner of the Prolific Inventor Award from the World Intellectual Property Forum; winner of the Atal New India Challenge 2.0; and runner-up in the JK Lakshmipath University Innovation Challenge. If he wins the Global Student Prize 2023, Ravinder will use the funds to establish patents for his further inventions, fund compliances for his startup, fund private veterinary care for animals, and fund necessary medical care for members of his family.
