Teacher Projects

Rethink Food is a not-for-profit company. We are working to achieve food security for life by changing the way we think about food whilst also working to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. These 17 goals are an urgent call for action by all countries to work in global partnership to end poverty and other deprivations by improving health and education, reducing inequality, preventing obesity and spurring economic growth whilst tackling the huge environmental concerns of tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

Impact

Each week, Rethink Food partner schools receive a weekly delivery of quality assured food. The food is nutritionally balanced in line with the Eatwell Guide and is regularly evaluated by our expert nutritionists. A lot of this food has been rescued from waste, having been deemed surplus to requirement for a number of different reasons.

Schools work to create their own social enterprise through which the food will eventually be distributed. They are guided by experts to create their own business name, logo, and slogan before applying for different job roles within the organisation. The social enterprise will then become the centre point for educational, social and environmental outcomes.

As the programme develops, the opportunity arises to join our campaigning team, ACT, “All Campaigners Together”. There are 4 ACT events to join looking at social and environmental issues linked to the food system. This approach ensures that positive action is taken in support of climate action.

Financial donations further support us to achieve our goal of delivering 10,000,000 hours of education in support of improved food security for children, young people and wider communities.
