The Global Education Monitoring Report is launching a new series to explore the connection between education and other Sustainable Development Goals. The inaugural paper, developed in collaboration with the Monitoring and Evaluating Climate Communication and Education (MECCE) Project, is a significant step in understanding and addressing the issue of climate change.

Education's role in preparing professionals for the shift to a green economy is often overlooked. Formal, non-formal, and informal learning are crucial for driving climate change action. However, research shows conflicting results regarding education's direct impact on climate change, leading to limited prioritisation in climate agendas.

The paper advocates for adapting climate change education to unlock its full potential. It argues that education must move beyond knowledge transfer to emphasise social, emotional, and action-oriented learning.
